Artist's Comments

first piece of concept art for my final animation. scrapped a lot of fun ideas to get to this but think this one is gold.

this is only the third or forth thing i've painted in photoshop so please leave any tricks and tips you think would help a novice... comments are always appreciated too

Past the rubble of countless devious acts, through the streets devastated by diabolical schemes and dastardly plans, there is a small, smoky bar where elderly men swap stories. The old hero-killer drinks alone and tells no tales. He thinks on his modern world of monsters and madmen… maybe the world needs heroes, after all?

this is fantastic, absolutely gorgeous,
the way the mood of the figuire is very clearly represented by the mood of the room.
the haze, the slowly ascending smoke, very atmospheric.

that subtle glow from his waist is very nice to.

as far as your skills in photoshop go, this is great.
I would say though, don't be afraid to use the eraser with some opacity on it to really smooth out some of those smoke lines.

if you need help since your new to photoshop throw me a note or something.
this really is a fantastic peice.

great atmosphere, looking forward to seeing this film develop.

cheers man, finally getting an idea past adam seemed like an assignment in itself, but i'm strangely glad for his blunt 'vito's. this idea is so much more suitable for a short animation.

thank you!!

keeping away from black and white is a turning out to be a bit of a challenge, i'm going to check out the proper eraser tool instead of the lazy one on the end of the stylus.
:iconameas-qua:
you can still use the one at the end of the stylus. ;)
just adjust your preferred settings and depending on the version of photoshop you have you should be able to set default actions, like changing the brush on your eraser.
